Today I had a one on one meeting with Marc to talk about both my Dial M for Murder <\/em>audition and goal setting as we approach our upcoming rehearsals! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

First we talked about how \u201cgood auditioning\u201d means slowing yourself down and making sure that you are always understood. It\u2019s kind of the bare minimum that whomever is in the room can hear, see and understand you. Marc said that a glow for me at this audition was that my vocal tonality showed up for me in a way that it hasn\u2019t before. Hearing that was really nice because I have been working on that a lot leading up to this audition! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next we talked about some goals that I should think about for this show. These are some bullet points that I went over with Marc. I\u2019m using the word \u201cyou\u201d here but some of these goals are from me and some are from him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Continuously work everything you learned in Voice and Body, specifically your speech, tone, porosity, y-buzz, and body NRGs. All of these things will serve you for the rest of your life if you hone in on them during this process.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Take the summer to not only strengthen your voice and movement abilities but also your body. Better your understanding of what you can do every single day.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Do all the workbook pages in the blue book. It is yours to use. Once you get back to UMW you should feel like your tank is completely full and like the only thing left for you to do is work and play with your fellow actors.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. While in London visit some of the places that are mentioned in the script and take videos and pictures. Fill your heart up with Margot’s world so that you feel a responsibility to tell her story with respect and care.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Actually listen, don’t actively listen! Don\u2019t pretend, just relax and do it! It makes your life a lot easier. Practice just listening in your real life and not thinking while it’s happening. Be a present human. Working on that throughout this rehearsal process will make you an active listener and a better person.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
