Seeing the design presentation today brought me so much joy. Beginning to understand the designers\u2019 perspectives really helped me to better understand the state of the world that we are going to inhabit! Getting to act in Wonderbread studio today also felt like a very big step. The activity that I enjoyed most today was when we created a timeline for all of the events within the play! The map was expansive and covered events prior, during, and after the events of the play. Not only do I think it is very helpful to do teamwork exercises like this with a cast, but I also really enjoyed seeing the plot of our show mapped out like this! It was so helpful to my brain to understand exactly what order we\u2019re placing these events in! The life of this play is so incredibly complex and I wanted to be sure that the timeline in my head matched with everyone else’s! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I struggled at the end of our rehearsal today. I had been feeling excited and great all day until maybe an hour before the end of the day! Erika and Jonah had already been released and Rob, Ben, and I were beginning our work on scene one. We started with sitting and talking through the scene and then we stood up and began the staging. All of the sudden, I started feeling incredibly out of place. Marc was saying some things that the other actors, who have worked with him before, seemed to immediately understand and for some reason I did not understand. It took me out of the work in a very disruptive and destructive way. Tomorrow I want to let go of these feelings and release myself into my work. Every rehearsal room is different. I am not behind anybody else. I exist in my own time and space. I have done the work leading up this point, I do not have to feel like I\u2019m losing a race! No one is running it but me.
