Today one of the most important things I heard was an Uta Hagen quote, \u201cmood is doom spelled backwards.\u201d I really loved this idea that the tone in the play is not the tone in the scene. Obviously I had considered this, not everything that I know, Margot knows. But I loved this idea of trying to consistently stay present in the scene, because Margot experiences such a diversity of moments within the play. Sometimes Margot is free and herself, sometimes she is hiding, sometimes she is angry, sometimes she is full of happiness, sometimes she\u2019s scared, and sometimes she’s quite brave. I have been having a lot of fun in rehearsal this week finding the moments for these different energies to come through! They are worth so much exploration, and I think this Uta Hagen quote will help me with that. I don\u2019t have to play Margot\u2019s emotions, I just have to know what she\u2019s doing to make it happen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Marc and I also had a discussion about playing consonants like instruments again. I really want to incorporate this type of play into my warm up and make sure that I am using strong consonant energy throughout the entire show!
