Today was our first real stumble through. I was so excited for it. All in all, I think it went well. Some of the scenes were questionable. Especially the ones we have not worked on this week. Act two, scene one is one of the longest chunks in the show and a lot of crucial information is packed into it! A lot of lines were dropped there and I think we all got a bit confused, but overall I think it was a very successful run! Sometimes I think I shoot my expectations a little too high. It\u2019s okay for a stumble through to include some stumbles! That\u2019s the whole point! It\u2019s good for you to be embarrassed and lost once in a while. It builds character! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the run today we experimented with a lot of voice and body play, mostly utilising the Leban movement efforts which I loved playing with in my Voice and Body Movement class! I haven\u2019t thought a lot about these since the project we completed before the first in person rehearsal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At that time I was thinking that Margot moved with a sense of gliding and flicking. She has to take care of everything all the time but she has to do that in a bit of a romantic or even showy way. I think that at the time, those movements made sense for her, but today I experimented with some of the other ones! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
During our rehearsals this week I have been playing a lot with tempo. Margot has moments where she is slow and luxurious and other moments where her brian and body are moving incredibly fast! There are also several moments in the play where her thought patterns change and I want the audience to see that. In order to make that shift possible, I have been playing with switching up tempos. Following today, I’m excited to also incorporate different body NRGs into these moments. I think it’s perfectly acceptable for Margot\u2019s \u201cresting state\u201d to be something elegant and beautiful like gliding or pressing while her panicked state might be flick or slash. I want to experience what different moments feel like for her with these movement styles in mind! I\u2019m so excited to continue this experiment at the next rehearsal! I love playing in a way like this. If I could flop about the floor and perform interpretive dance as a career I would do it in a heartbeat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
