Today was an absolute joy! Something magical happens when we actually enter the space. Today, I was specifically proud of my fight scene with Jonah. I feel like that is the best it has ever been. I felt present and connected throughout and I feel excited for where that scene is going as we head into tech! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One thing that has been really bothering me is the way that I call line. I need to learn how to call for line in a productive way that holds forward moving momentum. Right now, when I call line the whole scene stops. Marc and I talked about this and he said the upsetting part is that I not only take myself out of it but I also take my scene partner with me. How sad is that? But it is just a skill that I am learning! I need to call line but keep my energy moving forward. What a great goal to start working towards tomorrow! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I got my notes back from Marc tonight we also talked about my nerves! It is obviously okay to have nerves. That is normal and human. What\u2019s not okay is to let it get the better of you. It\u2019s okay to react to things.You\u2019re a person. However, when you\u2019re in the scene and it pulls you out of it\u2026 for example you\u2019re thinking about your hands, thinking about how people are watching you, noticing how you\u2019re breathing, it pulls you away from the entire thing! Marc suggested focusing as much as I possibly can on my scene partner. When I start thinking or worrying about me, place that energy instead on \u201cMaxine,\u201d or \u201cTony\u201d. They need your attention more. They are way more important than you are at that moment. I feel like this advice could be really helpful in grabbing my attention back to where it is meant to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of my favorite things that I learned about in both Voice and Body Movement and my Acting Two classes was circles of attention. We have a small personal circle, a middle circle that somebody beside you might be able to hear, see, and understand, and the circles continue to move outwards from there, up to the point where they reach Row P in Klein and even past that to the point where someone on Neptune could hear, see, and understand me! I think that playing with those circles and crafting them while we have breaks during tech will really help me to understand the intricacies of Margot\u2019s world. Using these circles of attention in Acting Two also helped me to train pulling myself back into a scene\/moment if I got lost. They have a way of pulling you back in because you find something to focus on that is specific and logical.
