August 22

Today Jonah and I worked on the fight scene with Casey. I have never been in a scene or play with real fight choreography before, so I was honestly really scared about it! A lot has to happen in the scene and I was concerned about working with Jonah and Casey because I haven’t worked with either of them before. I didn’t know what to expect. However, I feel like today went quite well. We got through the entire scene which I was very proud of! And I also felt extremely safe with both Jonah and Casey. I feel like we stopped the fight choreography section of rehearsal in a good place! Moving forward, I can’t wait to better understand all of the beats and specific moments that will make this crazy scene even more intricate.

Next, Jonah was released and the rest of the cast and I started work on the beginning of act two. I really enjoyed this but I am feeling so intimidated by this scene mainly because of how long it is. I am feeling challenged by how many lines there are and how complex Margot’s story is at this moment in time. I need to let go of some of these worries and understand that it is all going to be just fine. I was most happy in rehearsal today when I was really acting, when I decided to let go and actually do the thing! It makes my life so much easier! Marc and I talked a lot today about my speaking, especially the large chunks of text. The goal moving forward is to “send energy through the end of each of my lines”. Playing with that concept today helped me to let go of my thinking brain and relax into the work! I can’t wait to put this scene on its feet and dive into staging tomorrow!
