I really enjoyed the designer run. Thank goodness I did not explode. I was so nervous to see how it would go, as we haven’t done a full run of the show prior to tonight! However, I think that it was completely successful for the first attempt! My goal was to be completely off book by Sunday so today being Friday, I definitely feel as if I’m in a good place. I am a bit worried about some of the latter sections but Marc said that we will work on them tomorrow! So that makes me feel a bit better! Specifically, my monologue at the very end of the play was an absolute trainwreck. I forgot a lot of the lines. I really want this to be in a better place by the end of the weekend.
Overall, I think it was a successful designer run. I got to make a few discoveries during the middle section as we have not run those parts in a minute. I am interested in exploring the moments where I am without text. There are a lot of moments of silence that I want to fill with noise. I have several entrances and exits that are just me on stage. I am interested in the challenge of keeping the audiences’ attention during those times. I’m not saying anything. It’s just me and my actions! How exciting!? I cannot wait to explore more of those moments and make them more specific and rich in context and detail.
