September 19 – Show 2

Yesterday we had a bit of a misunderstanding during the fight. Jonah kind of tripped during the “big turn around/stabbing”. It was a hard moment last night. I could tell from Jonah’s energy that it made him very nervous for our fight call today. However, we worked through it and the entire scene was much better. It is slowly becoming my favorite part of the play. I just feel so comfortable with Jonah. Casey made sure we felt beyond comfortable with the choreography. I really appreciate all of the time and care that has gone into this section of the piece, from all parties, including myself! I want it to be great every single night, and it will be!

On a completely separate note, I have been proud of myself for building a stronger warm up routine and a process that allows me to grow! I have found that going in super early, prior to my call time is what works best for me in my process. Today when Rob and Ben got to the theatre we were joking and they made fun of me! They called me a “crazy early bird.” I thought this was funny because they both get there super early as well! But really, if our fight call is at 6:30, I have to be at the theater, warmed up, and ready to go before then, plus on top of preparing my mind, body, and voice I have to get into makeup and hair! I think I would always rather have extra time to continue warming up or look at my script! I hate the feeling of being rushed. It happened on one of our tech days just because our hair crew was still learning some things. Another student got stressed and it caused me to get stressed. It really impacted my performance on that night of tech, so much so that Marc asked me about it. My goal is for that to never happen. Not only do I hate that feeling but I know everyone else does too! It’s just not worth it in my opinion!
