September 28 – Closing!

Happy Closing! I feel so happy and proud of where Margot has come since our zoom rehearsals but really since we arrived here this summer! I think this project has been an excellent opportunity for me to grow as an artist, vocalist, and person. I am really proud of the art that we created as a group. I think we created a convincing and detailed story. I know I’m blessed to have the opportunity to work hard at getting better at what makes me happy. I love acting. I love learning how to get better at it every day.  I definitely think that this Saturday was our best show throughout the run. Yesterday, I felt really connected to the other actors onstage. It was also by far my best day for consonant energy and vocal resonance. I was really proud of my performance. However, I think it’s completely okay to recognise that not every day is going to be your best day. Showing up and working as hard as you can every day is enough. No one is coming to every performance. Live theatre is meant to be different day by day. How I view the performance doesn’t necessarily translate with how it actually went. I can get in my head and say something went positively or negatively. But then someone will come up to me and say “this moment was really beautiful tonight” or “oh, I could really hear and understand you today” when I didn’t think that was the case. I think it’s important to remember that growth is continuous. As long as I am an actor I want to be getting better with every single rehearsal and show. I can make awesome art! I just have to keep doing what I love.
